This wonderfully colorful book takes the reader on a tour through the intriguing world of science. It helps to answer the question, What exactly is science?Science is everywhere. Just look around you and the trees and the rocks and the dirt and the weather and even the car you drive. Science is also about asking questions and exploring the possible answers. Through simple words and child-friendly illustrations, this picture book introduces children to the exciting subject of science.
Analysis: I enjoyed this book because it provide so much information but in a really simple manner. The illustrations are bright and bold and really bring to life the world of science and the idea that science is everywhere. The rhyming throughout the book and the questions asked throughout keep the reader engaged and thinking about the content.

Curriculum: This book is so general that you could do a wide variety of activities to connect the book. Creating a flip book with the title of “What is Science” gives each individual student the chance to think about their world around them and decide what around them is Science. This would start a great conversation and generate a list of possible topics to focus on for a research project or group movie project.

Analysis: Forensic Science is a very popular career choice for high school students. This book uses true life
crime and evidence to discuss how the crimes were solved and how a forensic science does their job.
The book is divided into 40 cases and the author discusses the procedures forensic scientist mush use to solve a case. Things such as gathering physical clues, examining weapons and bodies if needed and the use of sophisticated analysis. The book does have some challenging vocabulary and text so it is definitely for readers grades 9-12. The book also details
the history of forensic science and all of the technologies that forensic science can use to solve a crime.

Curriculum: For this resource there is an abundance of information available to future forensic scientists. Students should read this book and begin to examine the many aspects of forensic scientists. Each student should choose an aspect of the science and do an extensive research project highlighting their area of choice. The project should be both written and visual and students would be encouraged to contact local forensic scientists for further information. We have a forensic scientist who has come to our school each year and he would be invited to view the visual presentations and offer his thoughts and ideas.
